The Story of OUR CEO - Luiz Fernandes
Luiz Fernandes immigrated to the United States in 1996, settling in San Francisco, CA. Just months after his arrival, he began driving a cab—navigating the busy streets of San Francisco before even mastering the English language. At the time, there were no GPS systems to rely on, only skill, intuition, and determination.
Luiz quickly built a reputation as one of the most dependable drivers for Yellow Cab. In 1998, with a vision for something greater, he launched his first limousine company, J.R. Limo Service, which thrived for many years and became well respected in the Bay Area.
The COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented challenges, forcing Luiz to close J.R. Limo Service. Despite the hardships, he persevered. In 2021, he founded TownCar SF, in association with Car Service Napa Valley, marking the start of a new chapter in luxury transportation. Since then, TownCar has grown into a trusted leader for wine tours, airport transfers, events, and city-to-city travel.
Luiz’s journey is filled with determination and resilience. One story from the 1990s captures this perfectly: still learning both the streets of San Francisco and the English language, Luiz often relied on passengers for directions. One morning, he picked up a blind passenger who couldn’t guide him at all. Nervous but determined, Luiz relied on his instincts and safely delivered his rider home. That moment showed Luiz that no challenge was too great, and it set the tone for his career.
Today, Luiz continues to lead by example—not only as the CEO of TownCar but also as an active driver, ensuring clients experience the same dedication, reliability, and personal touch that defined his early years behind the wheel.
